Strategy for a farmers development and extension team

Recently Martin de Jong, technical director of our consultancy division The Friesian, visited Uganda to develop for one of Uganda’s leading milk processing companies a strategy for the establishment of a dairy farmers extension team with the aim to double raw milk intake.

Visits were made to dairy farms, cooperatives and private milk collection centres. Besides, he attended several meetings with input suppliers and local based NGOs engaged in dairy development.

Martin also participated in the National Milk Day, which in Uganda is held the 22nd of June. It was celebrated with different events and dairy factories visited schools and hospitals to distribute milk products. Martin visited a primary school for disabled children and handed out milk and milk products to the kids.
